No they don't have to come they call right away after you hung up. They make sure everyone in the household is okay and ask for your name and address and your age. If you are telling the truth they will let you hang up the phone. If you lie they will have to come to the house. This situation happened to me.

I would personally breed frogs to the point where I had a frog army and I would put them all in a moat surrounding my house so they would stop any spiders and unwanted salesmen.
