Depending on the surgery, the guy could just be subconsciously more nervous about the fact that a woman is going to see his body (Not in a "I'm a virgin, no woman's ever looked at my body" way, but in a more general "I'm fine if a guy happens to see me nude in the locker room, but would freak out if a girl saw" could also easily reverse the sexes too, lots of women feel more comfortable with a female OB/GYN)
Or I could just be over thinking it and the guy is just a sexist that is nervous a woman will botch the surgery.

Should say over 360 loads, or thereabouts. Most schools are 180ish days. 270 would be year round school + some weekends.
Also don't think it would be that hard for a teenage boy to do. I'm sure he was probably doing it every day anyway, instead of cleaning up with tissue or whatever, he'd just deposit it into....whatever he drank every day, a juice bottle? Doesn't seem like that much more effort, especially if he feels he's getting revenge out of it.

Hm....I didn't read it as "I'd get to go pick whichever poor kid I wanted just so they could make me buy them things they'd actually need" I read it as "a random kid would be appointed to me that could tell me exactly what I had to buy and could tell me what I couldn't buy" Oh you're hungry? Buy 10 truckloads of mud pies and playdoh spagetti, because I'm 8 and that sounds hilarious. Oh you really want item X? Sorry I think you should buy item Y. That type thing.
If you had infinite money, you wouldn't need to go pick children and have them tell you to buy them things, you could just buy the houses/medical expenses/trips to disney world/food for every kid everywhere on one of your random days 3 weeks of the month when a kid isn't making all your decisions.

There are a few things about it, a google search would probably provide better answers. 1 was the way he did it was different than any way artists had done portraits before, so it kinda changed the game on how everybody did them from then on because his way was so much more lifelike (no idea what the style was called or how it made it more lifelike). 2 was how realistic and dynamic her face is. Her eyes follow you anywhere in the room, and at first glance you might think she looks happy, then a second glance and she might look more stern, etc. The painting doesn't change, but how you view it can change.
But like I said, google would probably give you the actual terms for these things and better explanations

Except when you are hiring somebody, you don't know the person's ability or intelligence all that well yet. Sure you can get a vague idea from their resume and the short interview, but the rest is going to come from stereotypes. Stereotypes are a thing for a reason. If a large number of people didn't do whatever the stereotype is, it wouldn't ever get called a stereotype to begin with. Doesn't mean every single person in that group does whatever the stereotype is, but a large number of them do.
Not saying I necessarily agree with all mickymouse is saying, just saying you can say you are hiring purely on ability and intelligence all you want, but its really gonna be a lot more about your subconscious thoughts about the person, stereotypes playing a large factor in that.

While that may have been their initial intent, it doesn't really work anymore, in fact I'd say it has the opposite effect. I would take a guess that if you showed a bunch of random people a picture of them with their helmets and then several other more popular singers (excluding any that are constantly in the news for crap other than music) just as many, if not more, would be able to recognize them. Their helmets just make them stand out that much more because they can't be mistaken for anybody else. You might confuse Katy Perry with Zooey Deschanel, you aren't going to confuse Daft punk for anybody else.

Not really sure what you meant at the end, Catholic, Orthodox, Protestant, etc. are all denominations of Christianity. Kind of like saying New Yorkers, Californians, South Dakotans, and Coloradans are all Americans. You can't say you are Catholic without being a Christian, just as you cant say you are a Californian without being American.

He was born a Christian, but he never actually believed in it. He didn't really believe in any specific religion, he just used whatever suited his agenda. He was a great politician and used religions to his advantage. If he thought he could use something from the Norse, he would praise the specific action he liked (note how I said he would praise the action itself, he wouldn't actually practice that religion, or promote that religion in general, just the piece that furthered his agenda) An example would be him believing Jesus was an Aryan, he didn't actually believe or practice Christianity of any sort, but he knew how many people did and wanted to try to get more of them on his side against the Jews

Aryan, as its referred to here, is indeed a race. He believed that instead of a general "Caucasian" race that every white person falls into, there were subsets of it, Aryan being one of them(and the "master race" at that). His mother was Catholic and his father was also a christian (although anticlerical, he didn't like how much power the clergy had). So he technically WAS a christian at one time, but he never actually practiced it once he left home.
He was also a strong politician and knew how powerful religion was (which he didn't like that other people could have power, he wanted it) so if the topic suited him, he would praise Christianity, even going so far as to claim Jesus was an Aryan (to attempt to get more people against the Jews). If it didn't help his agenda though, he would bash Christianity and just about every other religion. So if you went by his actual beliefs, he would probably fall more under atheist than anything else.

Ever been to a poor neighborhood in the US where everybody drives dodge neons and ford pintos? The majority of them act like they're better than the general population and are just plain rude. I've seen so many generous people take shit from these people for having the gall to offer them help. They're just rude.
You see how ignorant this sounds to label poor people? You are doing the same thing to those you deem rich.

Girls can punch just fine, and guys can slap just fine. Comparing a girl's slap to a guy's punch makes no sense. As to the logic of the rest, so you are saying because girls are weaker, they should be able to hit a guy and expect him to just take it and not do anything because for him to retaliate would hurt the girl more than she hurt him? That'd be like me, a guy, going up to a guy twice my size and punching him and then saying, "hey, I'm a lot smaller and weaker than you, you can't hit me back"

I would still agree it should be a mandatory Senior or Junior class when they should know those basics by then, but coming from a school that DID have a class like that, I also understand how pointless it can feel for the school to even bother with it. Half the kids barely pay attention because they couldn't give a shit, and half the class had to be retaught all that basic algebra stuff because they completely forgot it and so most of the time was spent relearning things everybody should know instead of learning the things the class was actually meant for.

different guest, but just because there are more years of it, doesn't mean you are actually learning more of it.
Most kids hate and barely understand basic algebra (which as many pointed out is mandatory) Do you really think if a kid can't figure out 4x =16 solve for x, they are gonna have the comprehension and desire to to learn all these other things? Every single thing you mentioned is highly based in math, and believe it or not, based a lot on algebra. Sure you aren't exactly being told to "solving for x" you are instead solving for interest rate, or how big a loan payment would be or how long you'll have to be paying off that loan, or what your net income is. Taxes, mortgages, retirement funds, loans, etc. all have a basis in being able to do algebra, that is why kids have mandatory math classes. They have to learn the basics of HOW to do things before they can learn the concepts of WHAT they can do with those basics that they have learned.

The problem, is that many kids don't know how to map all that out and just go to college because "thats what kids do after high school" and they have no idea what they want to do and they bounce around from major to major, take 6 years to graduate and then have a degree in something they know will be extremely hard to get a decent job in, won't make a ton of money, and they've racked up tons of debt with no foreseeable way to pay it off. I saw this way too often when i was in school and very few of them take responsibility for it and instead just blame it on the education system and it being too expensive. Are there some problems with our education system? Definitely, but a lot of the blame still goes to the students

Thats kinda the whole point though. If you want to rack up 200k in debt because you just had to go to that super expensive private college, which took 6 years and you didn't work at all while going to school, and you are just gonna get your degree in sociology (no offense to sociology majors) and then get a job making barely anything more than you could have with a high school diploma, thats all on you. Your overall income is never going to pay back for those 6 lost years of work and 200k spent.
Now if you racked up that same 200k because you were becoming a doctor or lawyer, your income is going to start out much higher and you'll be able to pay your debt off eventually. If you map it out and the extra income you make from your college job compared to a high school job never ends up paying off the debt you acquired, then it wasn't worth going to college.

British English 12 comments

quite actually means completely, or to an extreme. So you could say "She was quite right about blah blah blah" and it would be the same as saying "she was completely right about blah blah blah"
It had the same British definition initially, which is why if you ask a British person "did you like X" if they still respond with "Quite." They mean yes, they did like it. The definition changed for British (Although any dictionary will still show the true meaning) because it started off as a kind of sarcasm, "Oh she's quite the beauty" to an ugly person, but eventually people didn't realize they were being sarcastic and started using it as a serious expression.

So....decimate means to kill a large percentage. You could say that the Native American population was decimated, since the population dropped so low even today you don't see all that many. The "black" population was not decimated. You also mean't social repercussions not repositions.
Was slavery a terrible thing? Of course, and there IS still racism out there, but for the most part the younger generation of people never actually experienced any of it. They themselves weren't slaves, they didn't even have to fight for their civil rights. Why should they have preferential treatment now because some generations back their family were slaves? Other races that have had just as terrible things happen to them don't constantly bring up the fact that somewhere along their family line, somebody did something terrible to them. In fact, if you look at just about every culture (and not just lump all white people into 1 group), at some point they were oppressed by somebody else.

If shes to stubborn and proud to accept a man's help, she deserves to be made fun of.

So, you weren't allowed to have a bf, but your bf cheated on you? Either your dating or your not, if you told him you weren't allowed to, you can't really be mad at him for trying to date somebody else since he is single.
Also, wanting to still be friends with an ex doesn't automatically put you in the "horrible boyfriend" category. Lot of people are friends and try dating but it doesn't work out so they go back to being friends. He should have to cut off his friendship with somebody because you don't trust him? If you have that little trust in the guy, you shouldnt be dating him in the first place.

It wasn't a "dirty act" it was a logically weighed decision to stop 2 countries from the mass genocide they were doing with the least amount of casualties. Doesn't mean the casualties weren't extremely high, but its what they decided to be 'for the greater good'
Did you know what Japan did in World War II 35 comments

Not really sure what a lot of your comment has to do with.....anything on this post. Is it really better if its a small minority of the people that are making the decisions to commit heinous acts while the vast majority of the population just accepts it and does nothing, or even worse helps? Knowing that it is completely disgusting and going along with it just because you are "following orders" is, in my opinion, much worse than if everybody actually believed it was right.
As to America bombing Hiroshima, thats really nothing to do with this post, but the American leaders KNEW the bomb was going to decimate the cities and wipe out thousands of innocent lives, they also knew that an attack that large would completely stop the Japanese for fear of more nuclear attacks and that once Japan surrendered, Germany wouldn't be far behind. They weighed how many lives it would cost, and how many lives it could cost if they didn't do it and allowed the war to continue for who knows how long.

And the whole point of this post was the fact that race (or gender or anything else) shouldnt even be taken into consideration at ANY point if you don't want to be racist (or sexist, etc.) Saying its "for diversity" is just a bunch of BS to justify being racist.
You shouldn't have to hire or accept a Mexican guy, or a Black girl, or Chinese girl just because you already have a couple white guys. You should pick that Mexican guy, or Black girl, or Chinese girl because they are the most qualified for the position, OR if another white guy happens to be the most qualified, he should get it instead. Disqualifying that white guy because of his race (which is exactly what that would be, in the name of "diversity") is the exact definition of racism.

I'm pro choice in all cases, IMO an abortion is better than forcing a child into the world that may be resented, abused, unable to be properly taken care of due to the parents not having the money or maturity, etc.
However, one thing thats always bothered me is how pro choice arguments are always "its her body so its her decision" which I'm fine with. She DOES have to carry the baby for 9 months, so she should make the final decision. However, the guy really has no say whatsoever in it. Sure, he can talk with the girl and maybe convince her to change her mind and get(or not get) an abortion, but the decision is still ultimately in her control. If the woman has sole responsibility for the decision, shouldn't she have sole responsibility for getting pregnant? Not saying she should or shouldnt, just saying if the woman is the only person that can decide, isn't it all up to her to be responsible for what goes inside her?

There's quite a big difference between your local bank and its employees and the big corporate bank CEOs. The Canadians seem to be talking about the former, while the 3 from New York (precisely where the big banks corporate offices are located) seem to be talking about the latter.
Its not a matter of Canadian banking being more trustful than American. It would be like going around asking people what they think of "rock" and being surprised that a bunch of geologists had a different opinion than people around the rock and roll hall of fame museum
