Those particular Game Theory videos are complete and total bullshit. If you've played Sunshine you know NONE of the criticism related to Sunshine is valid and neither is the whole 'Mario never brings Luigi on adventures' thing because Luigi is also a SCREWUP.

Luigi is on his own adventure at the same time, trying to collect seven compass pieces that will point him to where Princess Eclair of the Waffle Kingdom is held captive. Just like you he's got party members, and every time he shows up he has a different party member out. You talk to him, he tells you his story.
