Lol I think I have a downvote troll on my back, all my comments went one point down, it's like someone just opened the comments page on my profile and clicked downvote on every single one of them.
How sad must a person be to do this? Seriously, mr. or mrs. downvote troll, please get help, I would laugh at how pathetic it is to stalk someone just to downvote them but I'm honestly more concerned about your mental health at this point.

@guest_ You're probably right, I've never thought of it that way. It's just the price we pay for being tolerant of different opinions. And that's a good thing, there is no universal truth and diverse opinions are healthy for society (when they have a factual base of course, I don't think that flat-Earthers are good for society at all). I only wish people discussed more, I see it far too often that people attack each other with ad hominems and strawmen rather than give each other a rational discussion.
@pokethebear Good on you. I've been getting rather confused with these buzz words lately, as they are often being used interchangeably,

There's a bunch of them in Prague and other places in the Czech Republic. It's nice but honestly nothing new, but I do fully support the fact that they help shelter cats.
One thing that I think is pretty amazing is a project we have here in Prague. It's called "The Homeless Cooks' Kitchen" and they exclusively employ homeless or ex-homeless people, and I think the owners have experience with homelessness as well. The meals there are good and for a modest price, and apart from employing them, the restaurant also donates money to homeless people's charities.

You make a very good point, however there are two things I'd like to say. Firstly, I think there is a bit of snowflakeism there as well, because many conservatives believe it was THEM who pulled themselves up by the bootstraps, and no-one else. They are the hardworking ones, everyone else is lazy etc. That is pretty special-snowflakey. Similarly, not being able to handle liberal opinions is quite weak (and therefore snowflakey) as well.
Secondly, the term snowflake has been kind of changed in the past years, and now it means someone who gets offended easily, which imo applies to people on both sides.
However, I 100% agree with the second part of your comment. I'd rather live in a diverse society that gives everyone equal opportunities than a hive mind.

Exactly. Shit like this is why I don't bring up global issues or politics when I meet my older relatives or their friends, because a) they're impossible to argue with as they NEVER give reasons. They just say "X is wrong, it's against muh values, instead it should be Y like when I was young." and no matter how many arguments you provide, they just repeat the previous statement. And b) they get sooooo offended and go straight for the ad hominems, strawmen and other fallacies. "All young people are so disrespectful, respect your elders (meaning "don't disagree with me ever because I can't handle a rational discussion"), we didn't have the technology you have blah blah blah."

The thing is though, I hate SJWs and snowflakes as much as anyone else. But there's this weird notion that snowflakes are only left-leaning young people, when in fact I've never seen anyone more triggered and butthurt than an old conservative when you tell them that gay marriage is okay and "family values"/"traditional values" are bogus.

I also prefer to observe people and listen rather than talk, because I'm kinda quiet and shy, and also because as a huge fucking nerd I don't have much to say to athletic or popular types as we don't have much in common. But holy fuck not even I'm that cringy.

Or the shimmy. I think the person in the post confused these two and mixed them together even though the result is something completely different.

I personally don't find it very aesthetically pleasing, however I can see that he put a lot of work into it and he's probably a skilled craftsman, which I can appreciate.

Spidey, you also have to take into account the time spent researching the topic. Reading a few books and articles about it can take a few days. Anybody can write 10 pages in 30 minutes if they just talk out of their ass and make shit up, you're not special. But researching, then coming back to the books you've read to check if the data is correct, making citacions, cross referencing it with other authors in case there are differences in opinions that you should mention... THAT is what writing a paper means. Not writing out of your ass and taking quotes and data out of context.

White native americans 21 comments

@famousone Imho the biggest problem is when the first dude says that "this problem is likely to persist over several generations." You say that if you were born in America, then you are an American. Makes sense and I agree with you, but this goes against the first guy who basically says that children of immigrants are also immigrants even though they were born in America. So in that sense, Colbert raises a good point by calling the guy out on his bullshit. If a child of an immigrant is an immigrant as well, then white people can't ever be natives in America. I don't watch Colbert much but I think he would agree with you there, it's just that in this specific context he's demonstrating how stupid the first dude's argument is.
