Seriously, who put the sand in your vaginas? If you didn't find it funny, move on and stop moaning.

In my local library you gotta pay about 5€ per year, and also you pay when you forget to return a book in time. I understand why, the return money is obviously a way to make people return books in time and the other part is imo because the library has a pretty neat online book search and reservation system and they gotta maintain the servers somehow. Also the library I visit is a scientific library (I borrow textbooks and such) so maybe it's different from a "regular" library, I really don't know.

Downvoting to prove your own point? That's very weak.

It's a well known fact that education in the US is slightly below average when compared to other modern countries. Saying that as I did in my older comments wasn't complaning or judging based on one situation, it was just stating facts.
Also, ironically, this "it was a foreigner" theory of yours doesn't work because according to the statistics, foreigners outperform naturally born Americans.

The +1 on my comments suggests otherwise.

"Muh country is importanter than yours" sounds like you got some complexes you gotta deal with, buddy.
As I said before (y'know, those 3 years ago), you don't have to know where all the countries are that but maybe you should know how to use google, it would be enough in this situation.

I'm only surprised at the Fox News icon in the upper left corner. Quoting him without following it up with "- Barack Obama, who was by the way totally born in Kenya and his birth certificate is fake, just you wait, we'll get proof soon enough!", that's out of character.

I think it's a trick question. Kind of like "one egg takes 10 minutes to boil, how long do 3 eggs take?"

Ok but imagine that a similar thing is happening with aliens that have a completely different physiology than us. "Why is everyone saying we are fucked if we ever get in a war with humans? Like just throw a cup of acid on them lol"

Police in Iran unable to arrest women breaking hijab dress code 19 comments

There's a similar situation (though not nearly as dire) in my country, in that weed is illegal but most cops won't give a damn when they see you with a blunt, some will even ask if they can smoke with you. The government is still mostly 50+ old men, which means that legalization is far from happening, but the cops have already progressed. It's almost like progress is slowly coming up the chain of command, and once there's a new generation in charge, things will change. And of course it's not as simple as I'm describing it, but I'd have to write an essay if I wanted to describe it fully.

@diyrogue I agree that the situation is not as simple as the dichotomy I described (which was there mostly for purposes of clear demonstration), but I think that you can see that in many countries (including the US for example), the elites are just completely disconnected from the people. They live in their bubble, always talking with the same people, reaffirming their opinions and just overall existing in a big circlejerk. The law enforcement officials are somewhere inbetween, getting their orders from the elites but still in contact with the people. Before, their loyalty to the elites was bigger than their empathy with the community. But as you can see it's changing because they stopped arresting women who don't wear hijabs.

The laws did originally come from the community. But when the elites become disconnected from the people and the people move on from these outdated standards but the elites don't, this happens.
In fact, there was a sort of campaign in Iran where men wore hijabs as a parody/protest of the regime's morality police. So saying that Iran's community is the problem is quite incorrect. Young Iranians are rapidly moving forward, unfortunately Iran's government is still full of old conservatives.

Marques Brownlee is a treasure. A bit too biased towards Apple imo but otherwise a really amazing tech reviewer. Then again I am biased against Apple so maybe it's just me seeing it.

Am I the only one who's actually astounded at how good his rhythm is? At least I think... I'm kinda musically deaf and I don't listen to rap at all but in terms of a poem, it would sound good imo.

They also sprayed water at a protester who was taunting them. They decided to aim at his head, and force of the water was so strong that it broke his neck, killing him instantly.
Edit: not sure if it's the same protest though, but I do know that it happened in Turkey.

You're necrobumping but I'm willing to continue the discussion.
He made the clock out of some wires he found in his parents' garage. Saying a teenage boy would make something like that just to appear like a terrorist is the crazy thing here, not believing he could make a clock. Also, I advise you cut it out with the ad hominems, you're just embarrassing yourself because it makes you seem like you can't lead a civil discussion without throwing personal insults all around.
You know what's funny, though? The boy got offered a scholarship in Qatar and moved there, because he didn't feel safe in the US. I repeat, he moved to a Middle Eastern country because he felt that in the US someone might randomly shoot him or his family. That's how fucked up the US is. And they dare lecture the rest of the world about terrorism.

Lol, another wave of downvotes, even on things that were +4 or so. Did you seriously use multiple devices to get multiple IPs to downvote from? Holy shit, you should really get help, this makes me cringe by proxy.
Reminds me of Black Mirror S3 Ep.1 "Nosedive". If the reality of that episode was real, this would be happening all the time, petty sad people ruining normal people's ratings. Good thing upvotes/downvotes aren't an actual measure of status like in that episode.
