Reality is different for all of us. We all have a world where we hold tight to certain beliefs. Shaming people into changing their mind will just make them cling onto them more.

That's just what happens. Find a way to confront the person as if it was another you with a different opinion. Just because they disrespected your opinion doesn't mean that they don't deserve to be respected for having it.
