If you find one of Hitler's speeches, even if you don't speak his language I'm sure you would find it powerful
He was just one of those people with a powerful aura, even if you do want to hit him in the face
One, I'd like to point out that the background on the thing behind her makes her look like she has horns. Two, I think Hitler, in a sense, was a good leader. Yeah he had bad intentions, but he was able to control an entire country basically. He was very effective
Plus under his reign he brought germany out the horrible state it was in after world war 1. And in 1939 nazi germany was the most technologically advanced country on the planet. If he hadn't started a war or have been slightly crazy, he probably would have gone down in history as one of the greatest leaders germany ever had. Instead of a tryanical dictator.
These comments are dead on accurate and show a good understanding of what kind of person he was which makes me happy. I'm always bothered to see people on this site that make lighthearted jokes about him and do cute shit like make "hitler toast." He was smart, cunning, a brilliant leader, and was one of the most transformative people in the history of the world. He was also evil. The level of atrocity and the amount of suffering he caused, the things he did... He is not a cartoon. He is not part of a joke, he doesn't go on toast. He is evil beyond comprehension.
Yeah. But I think people do that out of fear. The fear that an ordinary human, a regular man, could be that evil is terrifying. So people dehumanize him to make the evil that lies inside all of us, less real in a way. But yes he was a brilliant leader and he was evil.
I agree, but I also think that is the point worth taking away from the original post. People don't follow morons. They follow great men with great promise. We shouldn't forget they were swayed by greatness, not idiocy. Let me be clear, I am making no comparisons here, but for illustrative purposes- the next hitler is going to be a lot more like Obama than Kim Jong Un. People are going to love him...at first.

Though a lot of people do like Kim Jong Un (or are afraid to say otherwise). It's a character such as Kim Jong Un that has the weaponry and the freedom to act how he wishes, given his country's volatile status.
The thing about him though is that he didn't rise to power. The people didn't choose him. They follow him out of fear, necessity, and ignorance. People chose hitler. They followed him with passion. That's the scary part.
Pebbleinthepond said something about the evil that lies inside all of us. That, that's what's so f-n scary. He convinced a nation of good people to do horrible things in the name if greatness.

I understand Jong Un didn't rise like Hitler, but both leaders created (or, in Un's case, continued) an oppressive atmosphere within their respective countries. Within N. Korea, some people like their leader while many others follow out of fear and necessity; while Hitler was initially voted into power by a majority (during a desperate time in Germany where the electorate was polarized and willing to vote for extreme parties, hoping their views would bring about more dramatic change) there were many German people who didn't like his leadership but were too afraid by his extremist views - now backed up by his position of authority - to do anything to help stop him. It's the age-old issue of giving a man power, and then regretting it as you fear going against him - often it's not so much as good people being persuaded to do horrible things in the name of greatness; instead, it's good people standing by as other, weaker men do horrible things. And that's all it takes for evil to triumph.
This is truly one of the most open-minded and intellectual discussions I have ever had the pleasure of reading. You four have my thanks and respect.

Aw thanks :3 I like you, too. You can calmly, intelligently debate without being offended or getting angry, which is rare on the Internet :) *And thank you, felixo77!
Darin, I'm confused about the Obama and Kim Jung Un statement, are you saying the "next Hitler" won't be popularly disliked by his country or that he will be or...?
I am guessing that he/she will be very popular, as in well liked. Hitler got elected on the promise of "freedom and bread" for everyone during a time when that's what the people needed. They didn't elect a monster. They elected hope. In terms of gaining power, that could be more powerful than force. Of course it could also go down ala Doctor Who and we all just start following the heartbeat of the Master.
I just want to say thank you to you guys for being open minded and understanding the position of the German people when Hitler came into power. As a German American (my family fled Germany during WW1) it is refreshing to read your thoughts and not seeing any of the old bullshit that I heard growing up, like being called a Nazi or Hitler lover because of where my family comes from. Thanks.
No problem. I don't like hitler or what he did. But I respect his leadership ability amd his public speaking charisma. He was a brilliant leader in the mind of a psychopath.
Hitlers overconfidence and cockiness was his downfall though,he often protested his generals effective strategies. If you read about the Nazis USSR campaign, you will find that they were winning at the beginning of the invasion. But after the long game.Hitlers army was shredded by Russian resistance seeing that they were SERIOUSLY under-equipped,95% of the Nazis army in the USSR campaign were armed with bolt action rifles.Which were useless considering the fact that most of the fighting was in Urban areas such as Stalingrad, and they didn't have any heavy clothes on to protect them from the cold of the Russian winter,so they resorted to scavenging heavy clothes and soviet sub-machine guns.if this teaches you one thing, then it teaches you that combining cockiness and bad weather at a war will result in disastrous results, hope you guys learned a thing or two! :)
Do any of you have any idea what the world would be like if Hitler did win ?? I imagen a world where there would be no terrorism, yes rebbles here and there but no racial inequalities. We would be much more tehcnologically advanced. We would probably be living in a whole other world but I think it would be much beter. I do agree that killing off the Jewish people was a very bad thing. There would not be any Jews left. But look at how we kill off animals each year. So why would one religion make a difference. Even if he killed off another religion or race, world peace would be much more real than we could dream of today.
I watched a history special saying that if hitler had started to mass produce jet planes it would have bought his forces at normandy enough time to finish their nuclear weapons before the allies and new york and Boston would have been the Hiroshima and Nagasaki of that time line. But hitler didn't see the potential in jet planes. Essentially he was one decision away from winning.
Balonyman, I have to say, I completely disagree with you. First, if there was less fighting, it would be because the population was oppressed, not because they were happy. Hitler worked by setting out very strict laws, brainwashing people and forcing them to comply on pain of death. Second, I don't think the answer to eradicating inequality is torturing, starving, experimenting on and killing everyone who isn't a straight white Christian with blonde hair, blue eyes and no disabilities. I also have to add that as someone whose father was Jewish, I'm kind of concerned that you don't really think that it would make a difference if me and my family had ever been born, or if my ancestors who lived in Poland were hurt or killed.
The special I saw did say we would be in a more technologically advanced society however tjat technology would be used as a tool for oppression, not expression like it is today. So we would be more advanced, just not in a good way.
I'm not going to read everything, but balonyman, how would there be no racial inequalities if Hitler believed in genocide? Unless your referring to the fact that he'd murder all of the non-aryan people off the planet and by default, there'd be no other races to have racial inequalities?
sarahj have you read through all the comments ?? There's a few comments that said that the people that followed Hitler did not do so through fear but bc he promised them freedom ect. And I said any religion or race and nothing specifecly against Jewish people. soccerh I just think that if everyone was under his goverment that no racism would be tolerated
Balonyman, I agree that many people supported Hitler because of all the things he promised them. But as time went on, many began to realise that the freedom he talked about only applied to certain people. Also, I don't really care about which specific race you said, I would feel the same way if you said it wouldn't matter if they killed all Muslims, or Chinese people, or Hispanics, or Buddhists. Whichever it is, it's not a price I would be comfortable paying for supposed freedom. And I have to ask you something: what makes you think that racism wouldn't be tolerated by Hitler? I don't understand and I'm curious.
Ok good point but if he did win those people who dwelt off his path would relise he was right. But stil, it's ok if humans kill off like 20 spicies of animals each year. So exactly what diffrence would one religion or race make ? And I think he would be too strict to just let it go !!
Uhm it's not ok that we kill species that's why we raise awareness about endangered species. And it definitely isn't ok to kill races or religions, for no reason except they are that race or religion! Are you sane?!
Balonyman, seriously! A) Killing races or religions matter because it's not a faceless entity, it's people! How would you feel if someone said that your life and the lives of your friends and family didn't matter? A race or religion has children, innocents, couples in love, elderly people, people who are smart, lovable, kind, thoughtful funny individuals who are worth something. Also, saying the fact animals are killed means people dying doesn't matter is like saying that if someone robs someone on the street, then it's fine for them to hold up a bank! Two wrongs don't make a right.
B) Where did you even get the idea that Hitler was all for equality? He NEVER did anything for equality. He fought against equality with torture and death. I cannot understand what you see in him that makes you believe he would create equality between races but I'd really like to know because I don't understand!
Ok guys and girls. I'm sory. I will never comment again !! And BTFW I was just giving my opinion, you didn't have to shit on my head. All I said that I think we would be living in a beter world
Balonyman, I wasn't trying to "shit on your head". You're totally allowed to share your opinion, and I'm sorry if I made you feel like you couldn't. I just disagreed and wanted to understand your point of view, because I was really curious and I love debating. Please don't feel like you can't comment. I still don't see your point, but that doesn't matter. I hope we're good. :)
"What, do you believe that a moron could stumble into power? A moron could convince an entire nation to back his plans?" Yes, because it's not like America has ever had a complete moron in charge of a nation...
Bush jokes. Original. He wasn't a great speaker. He must be intellectually disabled. Maybe he should have used a teleprompter? There is a difference between moronic and immoral. Unless you aren't really good with knowing a bunch of words and stuff. Then I guess it's easier to just say moron.
