OCD isn't about being really tidy dumbass. It is literally having obsessive thoughts that you can only control by performing repetitive compulsive actions (although these actions can also include thoughts).
Preach it. So sick of ppl thinking the clean gene is the same as having OCD... I know ppl do not read books any more, but Jesus, I wish they read something so they dont sound so stupid and piss ppl off with their
incompetence!
That moment when you actually have OCD tendencies when your anxiety is going whack. (I see a therapist and she told me so....) And there are some forms of OCD that do make you clean everything. It's germofobia or it makes you anxious if you feel like something is out of place so please don't judge people who say they have it, they may have it mildly not severely like most people who are diagnosed.
I would never judge anyone, but the ppl I work with just want to take control of the blood drive. I know for a fact because their lockers are a junkie mess.
I was too, but, go to your Doc and just say you'd like to see one! Its that simple, s/he will probably hand you a small test to take to see what they think you have, they'll talk to you and get to know you a bit and then you can keep looking or choose to see him or her!
I hate it when people assume that. It's not something to want. It doesn't make you overly special and liked by everyone. It's my one biggest pet peeve when people assume they've got it.
Does having to rinse your glass/cup/mug ect. 3 times (not less, not more) count like OCD? I can't drink of anything if this is not done. If I get a straw, or it's a bottle, it's ok.
I have ADHD and every time some moron says they have ADHD cause they're too inconsiderate to pay attention to what someone is saying. It's not the same thing. Be subject to years of taking powerful meds and having to be in separate classes, then tell me how fun it is to have ADHD.
How old are you now? I've been taking adderall since about fitlrst grade and having to up my dosage as I got older. I'm 23 now. And I take I think 200mg of the extended release. But I know how you feel, when people say they have and they really don't.
23 and I was lowered down to 200mg adderall from Ritalin cause of health issues. I took Ritalin since I was a young kid. It didn't help me focus but apparently it was strong enough to knock me into a zombie trance, and I wasn't "too much energy for the classroom"
Yeahm because of all the issues with ritalin they didn't want me on it. But yeah. I'm just like you. Been on adhd since a kid. And I'll probably be on it my whole life

My friends all think they have it and it drives me insane because they don't even really understand what it is
Yeah. I can seriously tell how infocused and hyper I am when I don't take my meds, but you can self medicate with caffeine and or energy drinks. Those things calm me down.
ADHA is overdiagnosed and overmedicated, especially in america. I dare say that what you have pebble is not adhd since caffeine plus sugar would result in a serious episode of overstimulation for most real sufferers. When was the last time you had your "adhd" evaluated? It might be time to stop taking your meds, although the withdrawal from amphetamines is pretty brutal so watch out.
I did stop taking my meds for awhile. I was so unfocused that I didn't work that was necessary and wound up losing my job. So don't try that. Often times caffiene and other stimulants have the opposite effect on people with adhd which is why the medicine for it are goddamn amphetamines. A normal person takes that and they will feel like they just had an energy drink. I know what I have.
Personally I think people who have mental differences(I refuse to call most of them diseases)SHOULD be proud of them. Provided they actually DO have them. -Aspie and proud of it.
I agree. I also don't agree with how disease/ illness implies that something is "wrong" with the person. That's why I prefer difference. Rather than being something "wrong" with you its merely a difference that sets you apart as an individual.
P.S. I was diagnosed with ADHD for several years, but that diagnosis was changed to Asperger's.
I'm pretty sure most sufferers consider it an illness. It is something wrong with you. Admitting that is often the first step to getting better. I would happily never have depression ever again (pun intended).

Admitting the problem is the first step to recovery for addiction, not a mental illness. There is nothing wrong with a person who has a disability. No one is perfect.
I hate it when people say that having a mental illness is something cool. It's not. It's having people treat you like you are an idiot, or make fun of your disorder, or say that they have it too (they usually don't.). -Autistic
Autism is a special case though because a lot of the symptoms stem from physical deformities in the brain structure and the cell membranes. There is also a difference in the ability of the digestive tract to absorb certain nutrients leading to various deficiencies which exacerbate the illness (such as magnesium deficiency). In this sense autism is not classed as a mental disorder as such, since it is not solely the product of faulty chemical signalling in the brain, but is a whole-body physical disorder leading to cognitive symptoms.
It makes me happy to see people come together and openly discuss mental illness/disorders. Exploring them and being educated is one oh the top mechanisms of coping and prevention of future illness. So yes being "tidy" is a form of OCD. There are degrees of severity. While one person with OCD might have to turn around 4 times before they can sit down another might like their clothes hung up in a precise order.
Although as we say in the mental health field; It's not a problem until it's a problem.
In spite of what the title is. Personally, I don't think we should hide our struggles. Owning them is one of the best things we can do because essentially you are owning yourself. The best relationship I have is with my boyfriend who openly knows of my OCD. He started putting things back the way I like them so I wont get anxiety about it and waste my time redoing it.

BTW.. Trichotillomania is not an OCD, guest was correct.
incompetence!
-I don't get out much but I read figuratively (not literally) ALL THE TIME.
