I'm getting really tired of people acting like this is a new phenomenon

I saw a video the other day that showed how social media isn't actually social, and is I'm no way another form of communication; they explained it through the examples 'you wouldn't tweet someone their father had died, but you also wouldn't knock on someone's door at midnight to let them know you just had a tasty cheese toastie.' In these ways, it can be entertaining sometimes but, overall, is kind of pointless.
