I'm curious; how to people in the UK refer to black people. In America, the PC title is African American. So what is the PC name for black people in the UK?
Yep black. Although for some reason they keep changing what is ok to call them. In the past we were told that coloured or dark skinned or brown or negro was correct, but right now it is just black. Although as a british person we try our utmost not to refer to anyone as black because it feels uncomfortable due to our white guilt, even though we have no reason for it. Many older people still call black people darkies or monkeys or negroes. Not many people even know a black person in real life, unless they live in a city, and even then it isn't very common. I was 8 before I met my first black person in the UK.
Dang that's crazy. Except in the u.s. there's some states where it's like that where there aren't many black people and then there's other areas where it's like upwards of 90% black people
Why is white guilt a thing? My ancestors were farmers from Romania and didn't have slaves. In fact, they were tossed into concentration camps during WW2, but I don't expect Germans to get on their hands and knees and beg me for my forgiveness. We don't know people's personal history and we can't but the burden that was slavery on every white person's shoulders. We shouldn't be ashamed of our race, no matter who we are. When people say that whites should feel bad because all white people were responsible for slavery that's racist as well as stereotyping.
One of my pet-peeves is definitely people assuming Asians are Chinese. :-/ I mean really. They could be Korean, Japanese, Filipino, Vietnamese, Chinese, Thai, and so many others I just get so irritated.
Yea it's really diverse where I'm from like white and hispanic, black and asian, and a lot of polynesians and what have you so we never assume asians are chinese cause there are so many different ones like viet, lao, korean, and whatever else you can name. Same with hispanics we didn't just call them mexican cause there's so many different countries and cultures. I was the only mostly native american at my school though so that was pretty bomb haa. Oh and indian and more middle eastern ethnicities too, it was just a big melting pot and no one really gave a fuck
People thought I was Indian, but I'm Mexican. Then I ask my friends if I look Indian and they say I do. I think I'm having an identity crisis right now.
They keep calling me crazy. I'm just from the internet.
But I'm just limited edition.
