This is mostly true for me, to be honest.

About the holiday? Or the name? Do you want me to explain it?

Lets sum this up! 1) Black Friday is a CRAZY day...the day after Thanksgiving, where people mob rush stores due to their "super sales" and "deep discounts" before Christmas. People are usually injured in the mad rushes to the door. It is literally crazy. I tend to stay inside...well, I stay inside most days. 2) Thanksgiving is a holiday to celebrate a "peaceable" meal/dealing with the Native Americans that happened when the land was freshly invaded, before the Native Americans were swiftly eradicated with disease infested clothing and blankets and pushed back into small reservations. Now it is basically a time to gather with your family, eat mass quantities of food, and prepare for the aforementioned bloodbath. 3) Wearing white after Labor Day is some fashion no-no. I am not quite sure why, but it is slowly being phased in favor of more high fashion ideals. 4) Our words do not have "u's" in them in places that yours might as they have been phased out to create a distinct (cont...)

(...cont) language and dialect. I still like to add the occasional u, but I'm a rebel! And finally 5) I still, for the life of me, do not understand why the hell we are not using the darn metric system!!!! Things would be much simpler if we would just switch the heck over! Being a nurse and a scientist, I'm 100% over having to convert everything!!

You know what's awesome. During Black Friday, sitting at home and ordering the deals off the internet with free shipping and then having them arrive at home a few days later without having to sit out in the freezing cold for hours. It's pretty much the only reason I buy things on Black Friday.

I also do it Black Friday, while watching reports of random stupidness roll in on the news. Like "people have been camped outside of Best Buy for 46 hours awaiting blah blah blah"...or "poor woman trampled trying to get into local K-mart..."

Ah, so Black Friday is like Boxing Day! With all the sales and waiting out in the cold and all the other bs.

This reminds me of that episode of Doctor Who, Voyage of the Damned I think. They thought every Thanksgiving the world attacked Turkey and ate the survivors or something like that.

I don't think that was Thanksgiving - just Christmas :) (sorry, inner-obsessive broke free for a minute!)

Nah its cool. You were right it was the Christmas special. I eat Chinese food not turkey on Christmas so I got it mixed up.
