John Green shit? None of his protagonists were broken down and waiting for someone to fix them. They were actually strong people who faced a lot of hardships and were able to overcome them. His books don't teach that sadness is beautiful. Looking for Alaska taught us to never give up. Even if straight and fast seems easy, it's not the real way out, and sometimes, even though it seems impossible, you have to stick it out to find the real way out of the labyrinth. Paper Towns taught us to make our own path, to look at the world and think that even though everyone else is doing one thing, it doesn't mean that you have to follow the same path. Katherine's wasn't even sad. And TFiOS taught us to enjoy what we have. Even if we're stuck in the worst place we can possibly be, we need to love people and enjoy life. Sure, John Green books are sad, but he isn't trying to teach us that sadness is beautiful; he's teaching us to overcome the hardships in our lives and enjoy ourselves.
*kicks rocks*
I did, however, notice that Bukowski sounds dangerously similar to Bukakke.
