At my tech school you aren't required to say it, just face the flag standing(hand over your heart optional) and then sit back down after the announcer is done saying it. At my home school we have to say it/stand/hand on your heart
I don't say it is just stand there and nobody really cares. I just think it's ridiculous to do it.

I didn't know you guys all actually did this - we don't do anything like that in England. We don't even have those school announcement systems all American schools seem to have.
No PA systems? I don't have to do the pledge of allegiance at my school because it's out of the regular system, but we still have a PA system for fire drills or emergencies.

Just a bell - used to sound the end of lessons and, in an emergency that requires evacuation, it continuously sounds. Surely announcements slow an evacuation and increase panic?
This is basically how everyone says it, pauses and all: I pledge allegiance. To the flag. Of the United States of America. And to the republic. For which it stands. One nation. Under God. Indivisible. With liberty. And justice. For all. *everyone sits down*
My friend and I like to make some fun with it. Here is how we say it:
We pledge ALI-GI-ECE TO THE FLAAG OF THE U- PIE-TED STATS OF AMERICA! AND TO THE REPUBLIC FOR WHICH WE STAND, ONE NATION! UNDER THE GOD! INVISIBLE! FOR LIBERTY AD JUSTICE for ME!
At the christen school I went to, we said the pledge of allegiance, and the pledge of allegiance to the Christian flag. Than say a bible verse, and sing the national anthem.
I would just sit there all tired and shit and every morning my teacher would have to tell me to stand up and I would act like it was the lamest shit in the world (cause it is) and by the time I stood up we'd be on the last line then just sit back down again. It is so god damn stupid.
After the national anthem plays at a basketball game or football game in my old high school the whole student section would thurst thier fist in the air and chant USA ! USA USA! It actually was quite primitive and scary.
I don't understand why. "The republic, or which it stands, one nation—indivisible" Our government is divided right down the middle, and what little 'government' is left bickers over things that should have been answered without a doubt. "Under God", not everyone believes in a god. "Liberty and justice for all" Nope, what about homosexuals, bisexuals, and transgenders? Go ahead and pledge your allegiance to the flag, but that's the only legit thing you can do.
Am I the only one that's glad that people still do this? Not even the elementary schools in my area (California, about an hour from San Francisco) say the pledge anymore! It's nice to know that at least some kids in other areas will learn the Pledge of Allegiance. I mean, it's only an affirmation that you support your country, I'm sure it's no big deal. <--sarcasm
A couple years ago, some guy immigrated and came to my school. He stood up for the pledge and was the most disrespectful fuck you'll ever meet. When I confront him, I get called to the office and am talked to about 'cultural sensitivity'. I respect other cultures, but this guy's fam chose the US, at least he could've shown some respect and kept his mouth shut. Still pisses me off.
At my old elementary school (im about to go into high school) we had to sing Canada's national anthem every Monday before the weekly assembly. If we sing it every day in class is up to the teacher
It's really messed up when you realize that before Hitler came into power, the pledge of allegiance was said with your hand towards the flag(the heil Hitler).
We pledge ALI-GI-ECE TO THE FLAAG OF THE U- PIE-TED STATS OF AMERICA! AND TO THE REPUBLIC FOR WHICH WE STAND, ONE NATION! UNDER THE GOD! INVISIBLE! FOR LIBERTY AD JUSTICE for ME!
