Don't be. I happen to believe in evolution and god. But it you don't believe in evolution, don't be ashamed because someone on your side is making lame reasons. Believe because you believe.
I'm not assuming. You can believe whatever you want. You don't have to believe in religion, you don't have to believe in evolution. It is not our right (us being anyone) to tell someone what they can and can't believe.
I think the original comment was more cringing at the fact of being associated with the people mentioned in the post due to being religious, not for being religious specifically. That's what I got from the comment anyway.
No offense, but the advice "believe because you believe" has got to be some of the worst advice I've ever heard. The best kind of believer is an informed one. You should never believe anything for no reason at all, there should always be reasons. You should be able to point to something and say "that's why I believe". Even the Catholic Church teaches that blind faith isn't what they want believers to have. They don't want a church full of people wallowing in ignorance, you should always be able to defend your faith to others.
Also I'm an atheist because I can't find any reason to justify faith (I'm sure some of you can though), and I'm not okay with believing blindly in anything.
Oh and I went to catholic school till college so I know more about the Catholic Church than most people. It's one of the things that influenced my decision to reject it.
Yeah, shurikkaru's right, I was embarrassed because when I say I'm Christian, people associate me with people like this. And if anyone's curious, I am an evolutionist.
I just watched this video on youtube and I need to say that I really hope he is joking because each of his "facts" are either stupid or completely explainable. Also, there are stupid pictures of animal crossovers with the caption "have you seen me? Evolutionists think I'm real!" I mean... What? Just please, watch this video everyone and come back to tell me if you want or not to punch him so hard in the face. Please.

I've watched it and... well, I don't know how it have any likes
oh my god this guy has to be the stupidest and most ignorant man on the face of the planet! most of the questions he gives are explained by science and has pictures of animals morphed together with captions saying that evolutionist believe in them. plus some questions aren't even related like "bananas are perfectly shaped for the human hand". this guy makes me mad beyond belief.

Maybe he's a creation of satan to fool us. Who knows
Bananas are perfectly shaped for the human hand? Srsly? That's a bit of a stretch.
Avocados, on the other hand... there's no way that was a coincidence.
(Yes, I am joking, in case anyone was worried)
I am an atheist, but why can't we try and mix science and religion together, cause there are things both could use the other to explain some things on the other?

I haven't yet heard of something scientific that can be explained through religion.
I think Jesus just did a double negative. ...plus sure science covers everything but i am talking for people who need a "creator" and my major questionis who created god then?

No double negative - just the one. And if people 'need' a "creator", then they're not following the science - and science doesn't generally concern itself with 'who created god then' as, as a rule, they don't believe in a god-type character.

Good idea guys, let's just bomb the vatican again (Angels and Demons reference)
Oxford scientist Roger Penrose has written convincingly that whatever is missing from our understanding of fundamental physics is also missing from our understanding of consciousness. I don't know if he had any theories about what that thing is, but I think religious principles can fill that gap quite nicely.
If they were polar opposites, religion would be about intentionally ignoring or intentionally believing the opposite of whatever science discovers. That's not what religion is about. Sure it happens sometimes, but that's not at all what religion's purpose is -- and people who do that are doing it to their own condemnation. Science and religion are more alike than they are different. They are both about discovering truth. They are both about taking personal responsibility for your knowledge of truth (as opposed to believing it just because someone said so). And, really, they are both about testing and improving that knowledge of truth on a constant basis. The only difference there is that science measures with inches, degrees, and other numerical quantities while religion measures with the heart. They hardly sound like polar opposites.
This makes me ashamed to be ascociated with those dim wits. Chinese people have the longest record of history actually an there is little proof that there may have been a higher being who created mankind but through evolution.

Disgrace of a believer more like it. Someone find this man and show him his way to God so he can be judged.
Granted you get an upvote because your right and that first reply is really confusingly idiotic... But telling someone to go kill a man because they are stupid is also not the nicest approach to the situation lol
The stupidity. It burns.
Now, before you go Batshit on me, If you are religious, you aren't stupid. You have faith in the ones before you, it's completely logical.
But as an evolutionist, it makes me angry when religious force their religion onto me. Making youtube videos trying to prove us wrong, saying The Lord created the world, and everything in it. And yes, some Evolutionists post videos trying to prove Religion is wrong, it annoys me, ALOT. Anyways, you can elieve in whatever you want. But if you are going to try to tell me that what I believe in is wrong, and you are going to say that The Lord did it. He created Life, if you don't believe that, you are sinning. That is wrong. I am goig to believe in what I believe in, you can believe in what you believe in.
That is totally not bad. I'm Christian and I believe in evolution. You can believe in God and science at the same time., they aren't mutually exclusive. I believe in pretty much all commonly accepted theories, but I believe that God created their existence and still guides them. If you're interested, watch the movie "Inherit the Wind" (1960), I has some really good ideas about the melding of science and faith.
Also I'm an atheist because I can't find any reason to justify faith (I'm sure some of you can though), and I'm not okay with believing blindly in anything.
