Whilst it's true they get more money that way - they also get to focus on parts of the book that wouldn't make the cut if it was one film. Think about all the things they missed out of Harry Potter (or something) because of time constraints. Splitting the film means you get to see more : 3

Ok the hobbit is exaggerated. The book is one, and three films is just...BUT it is also a mixture of the Silmarillion and The History of Middle Earth. Anyway, back to Mockingjay,if you actually READ the book you'll see it is impossible to put it only in one film and not miss out important parts. Or else they make a 6hour long movie
