Tornado side view

But tornado wind speeds are generally MUCH higher than hurricanes. I think hurricanes can generally reach about 75mph wind speeds, whereas tornadoes can have speeds over 300mph...so I don't think its quite right to think just because we fly planes through a hurricane that we'd do the same for a tornado

The planes fly over the storms, into the stratosphere, where there are not any clouds, where it is safe from the hurricane. I just dont see why people think that the same cant be done for a tornado.

But the pic does look like CGI, but it could be possible to see the top of a tornado

Correction, Cat. 5 hurricanes can reach wind speeds of 155 MPH.
