School *tried* to teach you math, reading comprehension, how to follow directions, how to complete something by following a process even if each individual step didn't make sense by itself or reach an answer as a stand-alone step...
School also didn't teach students how to Tweet or use every function on their phones, but they seemed to have figurered that out without being instructed by school.
School isn't teaching you how to do your taxes. School taught you all those difficult maths equations, to give you the opportunity to see whether that was your kind of thing!
