I've heard this one before! I have an answer!
It was to share something he loves. It's like saying "If I didn't know about the show Avatar: The Last Airbender, would I be disappointed that it had a terrible movie adaptation?" "No, not if you didn't know." "Then why did you tell me?" Because the show was awesome!
Yeah, but it's like saying you have to want that the fire nation kills Aang! You need to pray for it, go to a meeting on Sundays to praise them and if you don't you will burn in a pit eternally!
If it was only about knowing...it would be no problem...
The /real/ answer to his question is that anyone who has not been preached to can still go to hell, they will just not be judged so harshly. They can still live a Christian life as the holy spirit will guide them in making good moral decisions, and that is how they will enter heaven. So how about we don't make up a fake quote, written by someone who is obviously not religious, just to persecute the religious and make them look stupid, hmm?
Guest, go read the bible. Done yet? Good, now you know that unless you have accepted Jesus Christ as your personal savior and believe that he died in your place and rose again so that you shall not perish but have everlasting life, you will go to hell. If you never knew about God, you're going to hell, no ifs, ands or buts. This is the very core belief of christians and that's why we are always asking people if they know about God, so we can tell them about Jesus and what he's done for us all, so they too can accept him as their personal savior. If you believe Jesus is crap and christians are liars, that's OK, because we act on faith and are obedient when the Bible tells us to be fishers of men. That's fishers, not hunters, that's what some christians get confused with. And there's only one way into Heaven, that's Jesus. There are no "good moral decisions" that will cause you to "not be judged so harshly." What you're saying is not found in the Bible and therefore is a lie.
Yes hi, this is the first guest. Would just like to direct your attention to this verse: "For when Gentiles who do not have the Law do instinctively the things of the Law, these, not having the Law, are a Law unto themselves, in that they show the work of the Law written in their hearts, their conscience bearing witness, and their thoughts ultimately accusing and defending them.' (Romans 2: 14-15). In short, the Law = Bible, the Gentiles = people who have not heard the Bible. Which means people who instinctively behave in the way that the Bible teaches, even if they have not heard of the Bible, can be redeemed. It'd be pretty silly if people couldn't enter heaven just because they were born into a remote area or at an era where not everyone knew of God. That would be a contradiction of God's unending love for ALL humanity.
So, as you can see, my previous comment is therefore, not a lie, as it is backed up by the Bible.
Thank you, guest #1! And based on God's love, I'd think that he would be more concerned with us doing good things than the name we call him when and if we pray.
Guest: Whoah. No that is not at all what those verses mean. What that is saying is that even the Gentiles are held accountable to the law because ultimately everyone knows what is right or wrong in their hearts. Go read the verses in context. Just a few verses before that, Paul says
"What then? Are we Jews any better off? No, not at all. For we have already charged that all, both Jews and Greeks, are under sin, as it is written: "None is righteous, no, not one; no one understands; no one seeks for God. All have turned aside; together they have become worthless; no one does good, not even one." "
.
The fact is, good works aren't enough to get you to heaven. Every person has sinned against God in some way or another. Even just by not worshipping him. He isn't just a loving God who can excuse that! He is a just judge as well. No good judge can let someone go for a crime just because that person did a few good things. Those crimes have to be paid for.
But that payment is death because it's a crime against an infinite holy God. It's an infinite crime deserving of an infinite price.
But God, being rich in mercy because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ. Through Jesus' payment for your sins, you can be saved from having to pay the price you owe because he paid it for you. And more than that, God then adopts you as his own child.
That. Is the only way to heaven. There is no other way. Even if you never heard about God. Romans 1 specifically talks about that.
