I know this is a joke, but I think its wrong when people blame white people for what happened before they were even born. Granted some people are still racist, but most aren't. Its not their fault their ancestors did something bad, so dont blame them
I don't think white people need to be blamed for what their ancestors did, but they do need to recognize that in practically all countries they have the upper hand
Aww look it's my favorite critic.
Being completely honest, I don't understand how you could live in a first world county and not see the lasting affects of European imperialism. I'm not saying that people don't have their own problems and stuff, but the term "second hand citizen" didn't come from no where.
You make a good point, its just slightly inaccurate. White people HAD the upper hands in whichever country/continent they took over, the most popular being America and South Africa. While I can't speak for America, I can tell you that they've lost the upper hand here in SA, but the effects of their rule still show. For example, about 80% of the land belonged to white people (a minority) and 20% to other races. After the fall of apatheid, they began a land redistribution programme, but thanks to corruption, the land is given to the wealthy, instead of the disadvantaged and many white people who had nothing to do with the inequalities of the past are taken advantage of because of our past. I guess what I'm trying to say is that though white people may have initially been a problem, the future problems cannot be blamed on them, because SA is proof that when any race is given too much power, they will become corrupt. The problem now is that people are taking advantage of the past.
Racism in South Africa is what I like to call "real" racism. It's brutal, it's real and it does affect your life if you live there. Many people have died over it. If fact more white south africans have been kiled in racially driven murders than the other way around. Often white farm/land owners killed for being white. The pure hatred that many black south africans have for the whites is a scary thing to see. It is animalistic and nothing like the American slavery situation. It is violence for violence sake. You have it easy in comparison in America.
Woah, slow down there guest. In the past, maybe, but currently its not that violent. Now its more political. For example, we have a "quota system" where only a certain percentage of non-blacks can be accepted into college. Even of your grades are higher, a black kid gets 1st preference.

I've never really understood America's Black History Month - it's very existence seems rather unequal and is something motivated purely by skin colour. If we're all about equality nowadays, where's my White History Month?
What we need is a World Slavery Month, where everyone who has ever had ancestors (or living family) who were slaves can get together and talk about it.
Slavery is almost as old as mankind and was just as widespread. Every single person on the planet is a direct descendant of a slave. Just remember that we are separated from the most genetically different people by only 50 generations. Go back enough years, even if it takes a 1000, and you will find a common ancestor with someone half-way around the world and that ancestor will also be a direct decendant of a slave some where in time.
Something else that is rarely mentioned is the fact that it wasn't whites who were enslaving blacks. Rather Europeans would buy Africa slaves who had been enslaved by other Africans. If fact, Europeans at the time couldn't even venture in past the coast.
I just wish some day the president of USA will say sorry to all african american folks for the slavery, and here is a one way ticket back to Africa, thrive brothers thrive.
You would have to send ánd all the african amarican people back to Africa and all white people back to Europe, so Amreica would be basically empty, except for the native americans, wh are quite outnumbered at the moment.
I'm of mexican ancestry. Send me back to mexico and I'll just walk back to my house in So Cal. And then I'll make America great again by bringing back all the hard workers who love America and want to see her thrive regardless of where their ancestors came from.
Where's white history month? Oh wait we have eleven of those...

No we don't - I don't see any celebration of specific Caucasian accomplishments and societal developments in any of the remaining 11 months in the same was as during Black History Month.

2: the first American slave owner was a black man
Ugh...I have the weirdest case of hiccups.
