If they genuinely didn't know it was a band then it's fine, but if they are wearing it to seem cool and aren't actually a fan then they can go shove their head in a toilet because that's just annoying as hell to their actual fans.
Well, what if someone is aware that Nirvana is a band but just likes the t-shirt? I don't see anything wrong with that, and I don't see why it would be annoying as hell.
As a fan I find it a bit offensive tbh, although they aren't doing anything wrong I still don't think they should be wearing it because it stands for more than just a pretty picture. That's just my personal opinion though
Well once I was listening to Nirvana, and my friend asked "what are you listening to?" So I told her and let her have a listen. She said she didn't like it. Fine, music taste is different. But one day I wore the shirt to a school mufti day and she was like "oooh I love the shirt I always wanted one of those shirts". And I responded, "you know this is the band I showed you a while back and you didn't like them" and she says yeah but it looks cool. smh :/ It is people who wear the shirt for these stupid reasons which give the younger generation, particularly teenage girls a bad name. People assume that we wear it for the "fashion" and don't take us seriously as fans.

I REALLY don't think it's things like that that are giving the younger generation a bad name. And if your friend likes the shirt then she can wear the shirt if she wants - liking a design isn't a stupid reason for wanting to wear something. I don't get why you'd be angry - at the very least, if she wore the shirt it advertises the band and Nirvana might get some more fans, which is only a good thing for you.
The band as a "brand" does not need to be advertised. When you see someone with a shirt u assume they're a fan and wish to talk about it. And when you do they have no idea what you're on about coz they're only wearing it for the funny smiley. I do understand what you are saying though and I respect your opinion, it just I've heard so many stories relating to many bands, tv shows etc. where people have assumed others are fans only to find out they don't like it. and like I said before, people have not taken me seriously in the past. I remember when I first time I wore my shirt was at my birthday party (it was a bday present from my mum) where there were family friends and cousins (so they weren't disrespectful) but the first thing people said were "do you even like the band?" these were from people that know me, that I don't act like that. But because others do this, they asked and it made me feel kinda hurt that I had to prove it to them that I actually like the band.
And this is yet another reason why you're one of my favourite people on here, all apologies for saying that out loud. Nevermind, idc if you think I'm a dork haha :)

It's Buddhist as well as Hindu.
