Well it is actually kind if hilarious when your in ranks doing drill when one of your platoon mates kids / siblings runs up and looks so excited to see there big friend
I can tell you why... the men and women in a cohesive unit are family. They look out for and take care of each other like families do. By extension, each soldier's family becomes part of the bigger extended family.
They are often happy to meet/see again a kid that the "guys" have heard so much about.
Where else can a child have in addition to their parents, a hundred or more "aunts" and "uncles."

I can't remember the last time I saw something this beautiful..
I scrolled down...then back... Then away again... Then back. Then i thought I was finally done...then back again. I have a 4 year old daughter and a new born one too. Something about dads and their lil girls. Love this post
