It doesn't mean he is blind. He probably could go blind if it hits one of the tissue in his optic nerves and something goes terribly wrong, but I think his vision will just be blurry because the pupil is just a hole between the iris to let light in the eye. I could get more scientific but it would take a while...

The iris is actually a colored muscle that helps the pupil expand and contract... How can a mucsle be broken?
