Yeah but seriously though you could only get a picture like this with no others around. The others would make a stampede seeing a person. So they probably left them to die.

The doe will leave the fawn to sleep if they feel its a pretty safe area but the doe was definitely not far away. Besides if it were dead/sick it would be on its side not curled up asleep.
