Not-so-fun fact: this is why plastic bags in the ocean are so dangerous. Sea turtles usually eat jellyfish, and those spikes help it go down its throat. It's meant for it to only go in, not come out. When a turtle mistakenly eats a bag(thinking it's a jellyfish) it gets caught on those spikes and it chokes the turtle
