In an ideal system, everyone gets an unbiased education, learns how to work, how to win or lose with grace, and start life into the real world with whatever their parents are willing to give them and whatever they made as children as well as the means to protect what's theirs. No government favoritism, no black/ white or male/female advantages, and sure as hell no taxes to discourage success.
Only problem is, in the US, you can only pick the lesser evil. I prefer the Grand Old Party, but that's just me. Competition and conflict are very important for advancement.
Choosing the lesser evil sums up the political system in the US quite well. Choosing which canidate, which party is going to violate the constitution LESS when you go to vote. The Republicans want to ignore the 1st and 14th Ammendments, the Democrats want to ignore the 2nd... and they BOTH walk all over the 4th.

Gay rights. Their fighting of gay rights violates the 14th Amendment.
It's right there, black and white and clear as crystal. It makes no exceptions for any group, it covers all citizens.
Of course. That makes sense. Though I usually go Republican, this is absolutely inexcusable, though I'm not sure it can be called an attack on the 14th. It sounds a lot like how Harvey Weinstein believes guns should be banned, yet says that if America starts a holocaust he'd find a gun. Republicans aren't trying to make the enslavement, killing, and the act of destroying gay property legal. Many of them simply can't accept that homosexual relationships are natural.
Though, it's still not right that they are so determined to fight gay rights.
