Actually, this is pretty true. Not to mention half of them threaten to murder your family if you get their gender wrong... I knew a transgender male who was so rude if you thought he was a girl.
Well.. You have to keep in mind it's very painful. And we can only handle so much. We're sorry if we snap at you. We don't try to be mean. It just hurts us. And we can lose our patience if someone misgenders us all the time.
If someone looks like a guy, I'm going to assume they are a guy. If they identify as something else, I'll try to remember. If (in real life) they threaten myself or my family, all respect and restraint goes out the top floor window, possibly with whoever made the threat following.
Wanna know why? It's because being punished for an honest mistake is also very painful, and threatening what people consider precious hurts grater still. We can only handle so much after all, we don't try to be mean.
Respect is simply a two-way street.
(This is more for everyone than it is for you song, I simply want to show that from our perspective, it's about the same)
I knew someone who got chewed out for misgendering someone. She was using they since she didn't know what they preferred. Turns out they didn't have any pronouns and wanted to use their name instead of he, she, or they. ( also, I respectfully disagree with Song because there can't really be infinite genders how I see it )
There are a million different shapes the brain can have, and that's what effects our gender identity in the first place. There are also many different sexes. Gender and sex are both broad spectrums.
So if gender identities are infinite, then in a real situation, how would the chart above be depicted? Are they supposed to provide a list of infinite genders for every little unique snowflake to pick from? While I agree that gender identity is something that varies between every person, how exactly are we supposed to memorize and categorize each and every one? It is similar to identifying what race you are. White, black, hispanic, asian... native american; it doesn't matter if you're one sixteenth Japanese and 17 percent Cherokee, you're going to have to select the basic category that you fit best. Nobody is saying that you can't have mixed lineage. Nobody is saying you have to be 100% female or 100% male you just have to express whatever part of you that you identify with the most. Don't be that one white guy that walks around saying "exCUSE me im not WHITE u bigot actually i'm 2% hawaiian, .07% eskimo, 1.75% vietnameese, 3.33% irish, .00765% grizzley bear, .0000000101% vulcan..."
Not everyone needs a category. In fact, putting a label on everything is one of our problems. Some simply call themselves non-binary or genderqueer. Both of these cover all of the in-betweens.
Have you guys seriously not seen the side of tumblr where people are making up more and more ridiculous pronouns ? Some people like to be called bunself or faeself instead of he or she or they. Then get mad when you tell them rabbits and faeries aren't a gender.
If I'd have been anymore sarcastic with my comment my phone would have exploded. The great thing about the internet is if you don't like something you can always just surf your ass on to another page.
Are you serious ? Have you not seen some of these people ? One chick gave a girls address to her rapist because she was mad at her for not calling her the right pronoun ( even if it was an accident )
Actually I've never been on tumblr mainly because I only use my cell phone for internet access and most text I can't see well enough to read considering that I only have one eye and all.
Well it's a really toxic environment now. People are hacking for personal info when someone doesn't agree with them ( it's happened more than once ) and they put it out there for anyone to do anything with, not caring for if something serious can happen. They've also gotten someone's pet fox killed and a woman's husband deported.
Sick bad, right ? That's why I don't like a lot of tumblr people. It's not so much as making the silly pronouns as much as getting pissy and hurting people when they aren't taken seriously.
Is that you, Nicolas Cage
