True. hey, Froggie - you're Chinese, so maybe you could explain why American don't have as many pictures of tanks threatening to run over civilians…coz we gots lots of pics of that happening in China. I'm sure some Tibetans would be delighted to point out how wonderful it is to have 400,000 armed P.L.A. soldiers camped on their doorsteps.
And boom.
You know more about Chinese culture and cities, and your written English isn't that of a native speaker. If you aren't Chinese, I'd bet more than a bit of money on you being Asian.
@hexy When I see you being mugged/robbed/raped/victimized I'll be sure to not use my gun to save your sorry ass. I will call the police on my NSA monitored phone and tell them where they can send the police to draw the chalk outline.
Listen carefully, guest-too-cowardly-to-post-as-themselves: if you read the posts above, you'd see I don't hate guns. I think they should be used by responsible, mature and mentally-stable people. Who determines that? The people in the local militia which you - according to the Constitution - should be regularly practicing with. "A well-regulated militia" doesn't mean regulations and restrictions, it means well-trained with a group of fellow militia. If this is you, more power to you. If you are some gun nut who collects AK-47s and 420 different handguns and rifles, then you are part of the problem, not part of the solution.
So take a step back, read my previous posts and take a breather. I am mostly on your side.
Some would say this is the other side of America. They are wrong. There are many side to America, and this is just one lurid, ugly little part of it. True, some of us dig our guns, but the largest majority of us feel that guns are there to prevent violence, not promote it. Unregulated gun ownership and use is self-destructive.
I love gardening. It's enjoyable to see the plants grow, and I like the fresh produce. Further, I see it as freeing me from being quite so reliant on the stores. Don't roll in the fertilizer, though. Hmmm... guess I just don't like gardening like you like guns, eh?
I think the basic confusion for peeps outside the US is the disconnect in their understanding in what guns represent to Americans. We needed them to kick the crap out of the Brits, and so it stands for independence from tyranny. The problem with that is that most Americans know have a scant idea about what actual tyranny is. The US Constitution allows citizens the right to bear arms - more specifically, it allows them the right to train with a local militia with these guns.
In my humble opinion, most gun violence (excepting criminal usage) is used by people who have either too little expertise in using a gun, or too little mental maturity to us one. Training with a militia would allow a person;'s fellow members to suss out who's going off the rails and the person loses use of their guns 'til they get sane or mature. Preferably both.
