I was stopped on a hill (a nightmare for anyone learning to drive a stick shift) and I accidentally put it in reverse instead of 1st gear! Talk about heart attack!
Trust me guys...you will reach a point and you won't know until you pass it, where it suddenly just "clicks."

Just tough it out because driving stick is one of the most fun things you can do... no matter how pokey the car is.
Like what I learned to drive stick in... an old battered Army deuce & a half, in Korea, in the mountains, in the winter. Egad, was that ever terrifying... and so utterly satisfying
I completely agree! I had a 2002 red stick shift mustang for my first car lol I've now had an automatic for almost three years. And I MISS the stick shift! Never thought I'd ever say that!
I would support a bill that would require all standards to have "Standard" placed on the rear end to warn people. At least in my experience, people tend to forget standards exists.
