I think it's variations in skin tone, I didn't know there was bruise colored skin. I also highly doubt that a battered woman would be taking pictures of herself putting on makeup. I don't think she's going through something difficult, I think she's probably doing a makeup tutorial. That's a pretty big assumption. Not everything is a travesty and not everyone is going through something harrowing.
