When it comes to maths they're supposed to mark it correct as long as they can follow how you got to the answer but in physics if your formula is different to the one intended the whole thing wrong
In norway, you get a correct, but not full correct. Even if you just give the answer, and don't show how you got it. So if that particular equation was worth 1 point, you would get 0.5 points.
If you didn't have the right way to get to the answer, it was wrong. It's possible you were just lucky and did some calculations wrong, but chance has made it right. However, if you had a way that works (and thus is right), but it wasn't HER way, then she's a bitch. I'm not trying to defend her or you, I'm just saying that there are ways that are indeed wrong, you can make a mistake anywhere, after all, but if it's a way the teachers haven't taught you, yet it works, they should mark it as correct.
I think they ate referring to the idiotic american education system called common core where they reach kids to add like tards. Instead of 9+5 = 14. They teach to make 9=10 and add 10+5=15 then minus 1
That makes sense, I suppose. I've never been to America, although I've heard the education system there is in fact really stupid. I can't imagine what abominations they teach high-schoolers or college kids when they're taught fucked up maths from the very beginning.
Though it depends on the teacher's personality as well. I remember having a teacher like that - she just wanted you to repeat what she wrote, only with different numbers. All other attempts, however correct, were wrong to her. It's better now, because our present teacher lets us do it any way we want as long as it's correct. I think it's because she actually understands maths, unlike the previous one who just learnt some formulae and wanted you to repeat them in order to get paid.
