Wasn't he "practically made of cancer"? He died of it, and it was all over his body in the end, meaning it was stage four, meaning the cancer cells were in his blood steam and traveling to different parts of his body. So the lungs would most likely have cancer or polyps of cancer. Even if they didn't have cancer given the fact that his cancer was in his blood no hospital would ever perform such a lung transplant.

Except organs cannot be taken from the donor if there is cancer present in the body.
