Not generally a good idea to do that I know a kid that did that and strangled himself in his sleep. Its best to either get a pair of bluetooth headphones or a speaker.

meh, no matter how hard I try, they still get tangled ,so I decided to just live with it

its not hard to fold/tie them in a way to keep them not knotted in your pocket or bag.
