I don't think I've watched an Austin Powers movie in about a decade, and yet I keep finding myself slipping quotes into conversations on a far too regular basis.
I agree. Because while many people with anxiety also suffer from depression, not all people with depression suffer from anxiety. And so while exercise may help those with depression, it could be an added source of anxiety for others.
could you please explain how, (I'm not trying to start an argument or anything), I just wanna know why exercise is bad for anxiety sufferers? I thought exercise released endorphins which would make people happy.
Well, self-concious people may not enjoy going out in public for running/swimming/and whatnot. They believe, sometimes, that their body will be made fun of and it's just an added anxiety to their already existing problems. As someone who has anxiety and depression, I can say for sure that I feel like this every time I leave the house, despite being in pretty good shape anyway. Exercise may treat one problem - depression - but may worsen the other. ^^
Also, people will worry about all aspects of getting to the gym and obtaining membership at the gym, if people at the gym will make fun of them, if they are exercising correctly, if they could hurt themselves if they exercise incorrectly, if they are a failure if they miss a day of exercise, etc.
