For me it's "only" going to be around $100,000 for all four years. I go to Ohio State(public university) and for in-state tuition and room and board, it's around $25,000 a year.
On a side note, the US gov't does help pay for some of your college.
It may not cost the students, but it's not "free."
Also, I bet it's harder to get into a university than here, where anyone can major in Communications, Marketing, or perversely enough, Education.
Sure, we pay a lot of taxes, but that benefits the whole society in free education, healthcare and more. We don't have to become bankruped in order to get an education.
