Explanation time you see in this anime the characters are put into a death game that is based on the game a video game the company created ( the company went phyco abd started puting real people with real bombs in a fight to the death on their uncharted private island in the middle of the pacific ocean). The game the company crated is an mmo pretty much like destiny but with bombs (called bims) as a weapon. The type of bim thrown here is a cracker (explodes on impact) but *spoiler alert*(if you don't like spoilers watch btooom yourself and find out, anyway) the bomb was stolen from another character earlier. The way these bombs work is you can only use someone else's bombs if you kill them (and if you weren't smart enough to figure it out the person he took it from was thought to be killed but the bomb didn't go off so he was actually alive)
