Does it really matter what medium people are reading on? Isn't just nice to think that people are actually reading when television *more pr less *dominates the entertainment industry?
Books are the best and nothing can beat them but electronic books are easier to store and take up less space. I love them both but nothing feels better than turning a page or the new book smell
You know what also has curves? Trees. The very trees you cut down to make books because of your paper fetishes. I have my Kindle and I love it, and everybody thinks me weird for it. The truth is, though, the battery in it is able to last for like two weeks, so all these "but mah infinite battery life" arguments are invalid. Besides, nowadays there are chargers everywhere, and if I wanted to go to a month-long camping trip, I'd take some alternative, like a solar charger.
I'm really sick and tired of people mocking me because I have a Kindle. Kindle users are bookworms too, just more eco-friendly and without the paper fetish.
I like kindles too, I own one as well but like we've all said above, we don't mind e-books we just love the smell and feel of books and would prefer it and your eco-friendly argument is invalid. You can always grow more trees but to keep your Kindle running you need to charge it (yes you only charge it once a month but coal used for electricity is not renewable unlike trees)and the coal needed to power your house to charge it causes more damage to the planet than chopping down trees. The only true advantages e-readers have is that they're easier to get and store, otherwise there's almost no difference between digital and physical books. And tell the assholes the bully you about having a kindle that you can listen to music when you read and carry 100000 times more books around than they can so they can suck it! Just because you don't have a physical book doesn't mean you aren't a book worm and you can prove it by showing then how many books you've completed!
Also it's not a paper fetish it's a love for physical books which has been natural for centuries and technology is technically the unnatural one but a kindle is more efficient than regular books but like I said nothing beats a real book and it's smell for me because that's what I prefer
Thank you for partly agreeing, it's nice to see someone so friendly. I am aware that the electricity is also made by burning coal, but keep in mind that it's not the only way. There's a lot of renewable sources of electricity, like water or wind or solar energy. But yeah, you're right in this.
