People who think anything that's animated is for kids have always confused me. It was this logic that led to my aunt letting my younger cousin watch family guy. He was four. As you could imagine, it scared the ever living fuck out of him.
I don't think it's just for kids, I think it's just for Japanese people. Not being racist, I'm just saying it was designed in and for a completely different culture than anywhere apart from Japan.
That's kinda what always bugged me about it. One culture isn't inherently better than another, but it always felt like watching some alternate universe. Especially when it came to relationships.
That's kinda like saying I can't watch "The Lion King" or "The Avengers" or "The Matrix" or all other movies or tv shows made in the US because I'm from Ireland. That quite a stupid way to think. Sure, other countries have different languages, looks, views, food and cultures, but watching their shows makes us more knowledgable in other ethnicities' ways. Also, don't make the "But English speaking countries aren't so different" argument because I can say something in Ireland or the UK that is perfectly normal but it would cause an uproar in the US, and vica versa ( for example, the word fag)
Btw, has anyone else noticed that people who put things up on the internet and slap "truth" on it are the least likely people to tell you the truth? It's honestly rather obnoxious. Feel free to state your case, and kindly allow the people to debate and decide for themselves.
And yes, I realize that this isn't an important enough issue to take this stand on, but I've been noticing this far too much lately.
No, it's not as different, but there are movies that people watch that are set in the dark ages when it was acceptable to have your 14 year old daughter married and start having kids, when what you did with your shit was throw it out into the street because there was no plumbing. People watch movies set on different planets. It's completely up to you to watch anime or not, but every anime is different and not all of them are even set in Japan, just like not all American movies are set in America.
Preach! Also anime is love, anime is life. I'm gonna say it.... Frozen and Lego movie can't even come close to the amazingness of Deathnote, Bleach etc. (avatar included although it's more of a cartoon)
Anime varies, like books.
It can be very childish, or very mature.
Very comedic,or very intense.
I personally love anime.
They have beautiful drawings, and interesting story lines.
I'm guessing you've never seen Dragon ball Z....
Allow me to sum it up.
Blood, death (and resurrection) swearing, a guy actually gets liquified in the Android saga, do I need to go on?
I actually did watch it with my dad when I was a kid, but when it swore he reminded me that's not a kids word and he'd cover my eyes during any scenes of gore or nudity. I wasn't a looked to watch it by myself until I was twelve. It's one of those shows you watched as a kid even though you really weren't supposed to, sort of like the Simpsons
And?
Not saying I haven't watched it while my INFANT CHILDREN slept or were otherwise unable to watch with me, but in any case, who ever specified it's target audience? As for anime, yikes. I'm honestly a bit embarrassed of having watched it while I was of a more "acceptable" (read: less sophisticated) age.
Like most interests/worldviews fervently held by the majority of teen funsubbers, I'm curious to see how the whole anime thing unfolds.
Its different to watch it while your kids are watching it and even when they're falling asleep but to post pictures, videos, and comments about or including MLP is another thing. Thats a show meant for kids while Anime is meant for teens.
MLP is definitely made for kids, while anime is definitely made for all ages. It's from a different culture, and tends to be more common among teens, but in Japan, anime and manga are made for everyone, with any interests. There are anime from many different genres, including non-fiction and Walks of Life. I'm honestly kind of sorry that you feel embarrassed just because you were interested in something that isn't made in your country, that a good number of teens happen to like. You are more than welcome to like or dislike it as you wish, but anime is definitely not meant exclusively for teens any more than TV shows are. Yes, there are certain animes that are meant for teenagers, and for children, but that isn't exclusive. I'd appreciate it if you at least stop posting hateful comments just because you feel embarrassed about appreciating something from another culture.
God mgoveia you're such a freaking hypocrite. All your comments ever do is make people mad. Which I'm sure is your purpose in doing this. Why no just do us all a favor and say something worth while (or at least civil) or just leave.
Try harder next time.
