I was guilty of this as a child.

Microwaving things is sometimes too sneaky for children. When I was about 11 years old, I was home alone and wanted to make some popcorn. I knew, that I must stop the microwave, when the popcorn pop´s in some period, but my friend call me... After cca 3 minutes I remembered, that I am doing popcorn, looked at the microwave and saw some smoke... The popcorn was totally burned, but luckily it wasn´t on fire. But the smoke smelled really bad, and I had sore eyes from that... Well. My parents arrived three hours later and even if I let all windows open, they smelled it. I´m still quite scared of that experience.
