Read the story, the "teen" is 19 and was selling pot brownies, which makes him a drug dealer, and was in possession of 145 grams of hash oil. (Hash oil is a much more potent form of THC and ranks higher on drug penalty scale than Marijuana) Like the article says as well if he'd just been baking them in his room then their wouldn't be as much of a problem but he was attempting to sell them. Also, he can get between 6 years to life in prison which doesn't mean he is going away for life. He was also given a plea bargain which he refused because he didn't want to go to meetings with a probation officer.
