The perpetuation of idiocy is seen in many races and cultures, and it exists mainly due to jealousy of another's success. When everyone strives to deter their peers from success, a community of failures is created. The glorification of the thug life in the ghetto cultures is a prime example of this occurrence. Another example is the limiting of education in many third world countries; in Cambodia (around the 50's I THINK) most educated people were executed by the lower uneducated class, as they believed it was their education that caused their nation's poor condition. Of course, this resulted in a huge drop in national productivity, and basically everything got much worse. By shunning those who achieve success, or by hating those who achieve things that one hasn't achieved, people prevent progress and in fact promote a regression in society.
Thus the modern glorification of the uneducated hardcore gangster/thug may eventually lead our society to mirror the behavior of the uneducated people of 1950's Cambodia.
At least that's what I think
Some black people ruin it for other black people. 10 out of 100 blacks will label all of them as a thug, as a gangster. Same goes for Muslims. You see a picture on the internet with someone in Muslim attire? Oh, he's a terrorist for sure, because one guy is labeled, all are labelled.
I honestly haven't ever seen any sort of racism at my school. Of course, I live in an area that's not very diverse, and we only have like five non-Caucasians per grade.
I'm sorry, this might be partly true, but most of it isn't. If you look at the way black people are treated by the cops and the justice system, you will see a very different picture. If there were no racist white people, the Klu Klux Klan would not exist.
I don't think you understand this post at all. Also, yourast sentence didn't make any sense at all, as it basically means "if there were no racist white people, then racist white people would not exist". Your comment doesn't provide a response to the subject at hand, mainly because it clearly demonstrates a lack of understanding of the subject at hand. If you do not have the mental capacity to understand the subject of this posts, then don't shame yourself further by commenting utter nonsense.
Thank you for being so considerate in your response. I am not a native English speaker, and I am simply voicing my opinion. No need to call my opinon nonsense or question my mental health. As the first sentence states; ''We as black people, we are never going to be succesful, not because of you white people. but because of other black people''. I didn't put my opinion into words very well, But what I meant to say was; ''I think racism directed towards black people by other ethnicities causes bigger social issues in the black community than internal racism.'' So, I disagree with the first sentence.
I'd like to remind you that black segregation is IN THE PAST. the KKK ended years ago. in fact, many African Americans get special treatment (including financial aid at college) soley for the fact that they are a minority. unfortunately a lot of them do feel this pressure from their peers, though. I knew a woman in college who was dating a white man. they didn't think about race, they just liked each other. but her parents said he couldn't come home for Christmas because she was "betraying her people" she was heartbroken. so falling in love was "betrayal?" it shouldn't be that way. but so many people are only focusing on the past when great leaders like Martin Luther King Jr. and Rosa Parks wanted us to focus on the FUTURE and GET PAST that type of mind block.
Yep, it is. Quoting someone here; ''Those who do not study history, are doomed to repeat it.'' Seregation might be in the past, but it greatly influenced many things in modern society. Black and white people are no longer forced to live apart, but the problem that white and black people still mostly live separately still exists. This is partly due to seregation, and partly due to differences in income. Just because seregation is not recorded in the american law anymore does not mean it has not left a mark, even in todays society.
I didn't mean it's totally gone but it's very, very small. and actually there are several groups that are for Black Supremacy and for Asian Supremacy you just don't hear about them. I really think part of the problem is that some people want to guilt trip everyone into staying in the past. for example there were actually more white Irish slaves than African slaves, but they don't want us to know. there were several black slave owners that actually tried to stop it from being abolished. but they're trying to make everything black and white (no pun intended). another example is the film industry. Ellen DeGeneres pointed out as much. if "12 Years a Slave" hadn't won best picture, we're all racist. not saying it's not a good film, but can't deny it wasn't part of the vote. and why don't we hear about great people who got past the race gap like C.J. Walker, the first female millionaire in America? the daughter of a slave who went door to door selling hair products.
Ben Carson, who grew up with just his mother in a poor family and became one of the most successful brain surgeons in the world? or Chris Gardner, who was homeless raising his son and worked the stock market and became a millionaire? they understood and respected the past, but they didn't dwell on it. they only looked at the future. personally I think that dwelling on the past or dwelling on groups that are now very small and looked down upon by most people is dishonoring the memory of leaders like Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King Jr. they didn't want to dwell on the past, they wanted to learn from it and move forward. which is exactly what Sir Charles is saying too.
At least that's what I think
