Ok so I know they do charge a butt load for such little food. BUT here is the things you need know.
At McDonalds you are buying food made probably by some kid working a summer job or by some adult just trying to make ends meet. You also buying food made with cheap food. They real do not use the best. Really you're just buying food to stuff your face.
At a fancy Restaurant you are paying for a personal waiter, a busboy/girl to clean up after you leave, & for the maitre d' who helped you to your table. You're paying for even though they seem free that bread sitting at your table if you eat them or not. You're paying for the music being played, live band or not, & you pay for the design of the room. You're paying for the chief that examined your plate to make sure it was perfect & you're paying for the learning the whole kitchen staff had to go though to be able to cook your food. Last you are paying for the best of the best ingredients. That is why it is so much.
My brother is a chief.

That doesn't mean that they shoud serve such ridiculous meals.
I get that on a "high tier" restaurant you gotta pay for what you are enjoying, but at least they should serve real food and not that joke.
True such little food is crazy but people who eat there don't just get 1 thing and leave they usually buy all the courses. So portions tend to be small so you don't over eat. Plus I have eaten at one of these restaurants thanks to my brother and the food doesn't really look that small. They are usually actual proper portions size. Like you really not suppose to eat a stake bigger than your palm. And OMG it taste so good, it taste like it was sent from Heaven to your plate. When was the last time you said that about a burger from McDonalds.

(by the way, in France we call it "la pomme de terre" or "une patate")
