Fun fact, even if you get rid of one person on the bottom the pyramid does not cease to exist. It simply gets smaller

Let's say, you take out the guy in the bottom 3 from the left. This means you have also taken out the two people on top of him, thus removing the two above them. All this causes the highest one to drop. By losing 6, with 5 of them being upper tier, you have disrupted the cycle and the remaining 4, three being bottom level, have no benefits to continue in the practice.
