I always thought a real athiest would have the most unbiased view on anything given they dont believe. Rather than some people believe that there are no gods that would generate a biased view same as any other religion and this is coming from a christian.
That's actually true, because we'd be more inclined to our own religion, and less open to learning about others, perhaps not on purpose. Like our minds automatically reject non-canon religions xD
I try to be the most open minded person I can I'm a christian but that don't mean I'm always right. I ask people questions about heir religion all the time. Im in my second semester of Arabic and learned about Islam from my professors and have gone on dates with Mormons and Jews and learned a lot from them too.
Same thing happened to me... the thing is, a lot of people follow the religion they were raised in without even knowing a lot of it out of habit, or because it's easy... atheists normally bother to at least know the basics of some religions before deciding it's not for them
Many come to Athieism through Skepticism like I did. Where Skepticism requires information and discusion, this often brings a reasonable level of understanding.
.
That understanding may not nessasarily be "in depth," but it is on par with that of the devout, if not greater.
I go to a christian school and was the only atheist (now everyone claims to be an atheist, i guess i created a trend) and some guys uses to make fun of me and call me a pagan (because aparently in their heads that's the same thing) until i outsmarted them on their own religion and they shut up
