This might not be correct reasoning, but Switzerland is a very small country, having just less than 1/40th of the USA population, so I'm guessing it would be a lot easier to lock up the majority of the criminals than in a country with so many people.
I think letting citizens have the right to own guns is fair in the same sense how countries have or try to have nukes. "You blow up this country and I will blow you up" so everyone is too scared to do stuff.
Wasn't this posted before and someone commented talking about how they regulate the ammo or something so half the country has gonrs but no ammo ? Or something like that
In 2005, about 30% of households contained firearms, and about 11% of households contained handguns, and we are not talking about the proportion of citizens, just houses. So it's AT MOST 30% of people, probably way less because, you know, children and shit.
Also, the vast majority of men have mandatory weapon training in their twenties.
Meanwhile, in the USA, there are way more households containing guns, and way more people who do not even know how to use them properly, like in "not fucking with standard safety regulations". Even some cops are pointing their guns at people when there is no imminent threat whatsoever.

Read it, it's fascinating.
