I never cry at these posts. Yes, they are very cute. I actually really like this one. But I never cry on these. In fact I can't even force myself to cry on these posts.
I was at an animal shelter and there was a little dog that had been abused and was missing an eye. It was so upsetting. However I am glad that people are kind and generous enough to help animals in poor condition.
Okay guys. Story time. So I work at a shelter as a volunteer on weekends, just walking dogs, helping clean cages, the usual. One day, someone brought in a golden retriever. There was just one problem. THERE WAS AN 8 INCH CARVING KNIFE STICKING OUT OF HER BACK. We're not really prepped to deal with these kinds of situations, but we managed to get one of the back rooms sterilized, and I had to carefully remove the knife from her back. It had missed all of her organs, by some miracle of god, but she'd gotten a small part of her spinal cord cut. Fortunately, it was just small enough that she could still walk, and after 3 months recovery, she's finally better. I adopted her, and named her Hera.
(Hera stopped responding to her old name, Jessica.)
The reason Hera came in with a knife in her back was because her owner got drunk and started beating his wife. When she tried to stop him, her owner stabbed her in the back, and continued to beat her. Their 5 year old son was smart enough to call the police, and their neighbor brought Hera in. The husband was arrested and divorced. Hera's family couldn't afford to keep her after that, but they visit me a lot, so she's kind of our mutual dog.
