After the Sydney shooting siege, Muslims in Oz are concerned that they might be targeted by the public because u know how these days ppl tend to generalise a certain race as being violent yada yada.. So they're afraid to take public transportation in case some ppl would start slandering etc. So this ridewithyou campaign was started to show that there are caring ppl out there and we must protect each other from violence, prejudice and so on.
Thanks guest for your explanation. I wish there'd be the same brotherhood here in France. Go on Australia, everybody should know how kind people there are!
Actually this whole thing was a beat up. The woman that wrote the first post later revealed this didn't really happen. And there was no backlash to the Muslim community following the siege in Martin place.
Islam is not a culture, its a religion. No matter where you are, it doesn't matter if you're under you parents restrictions or not, once the hijab is put, its the girl's responsibility to keep it on. Plus nowadays a lot of girls that are in the west studying or working must have had a choice to put it on.
So what if she was taking it off because only when she's out, well away from her family, can she be free of the restrictions her family place upon her?
Maybe you're all just reading this backwards...
Just saying. Ain't like Islam is a bastion of feminist liberty or anything...
I was actually thinking this too, but maybe she still wears it it cuz it's part of her culture? Idk, perhaps I'm wrong, perhaps you're wrong, but the point of this was to show the i'llridewithyou campaign.
Thanks
