to be fair, an average movie script is only around 80-100 pages long, compared to it's book at 300-400 pages. so one book being made into 3 movies would most likely contain a larger portion of the original material.

And the Hobbit movies are not just going off the book, but Tolkein's original manuscript of unpublished work as well.

People keep saying that, but his manuscripts were just extra poetry and short stories along with explananations of characters. Everyone brings up the fact that there was a manuscript, but that doesn't change the fact the movie was stuffed full of shit to stretch it out, shit that wasn't written anywhere by Tolkien.
