my father, 70 at the time stilled used a 35mm film camera, took a photo of my niece, 6, she ran around to look at the (non-existent) lcd display, when told, it doesn't have one, she exclaimed "oh, it's broken" :(
My 18 month year old brother can turn my moms ipad on and slide the little thing to unlock it (she doesn't have a password on it) he also knows to swipe the page to the right 2 times to get to the app we have on there that's his. It blows my mind!
Found the butthurt 90s kid!
Seriously dude, don't hate them for the environment they're growing up in. A 5 year old you could've as well seen beyblades or bionicles in everything and nobody whined about it.

That's because the last generation weren't some kids obsessed with any fucking item, such as phones and other shit they don't need.
"Weren't obsessed with an item they didn't need"
*clears throat*
Beyblades, N64, GameBoy, PlayStation, Tamagotchi, Furbies, Barbie dolls (that was mostly girls though, I guess), Hot Wheels, action figures. Please tell me about how you needed all these.
The smartphones and tablets are just toys for them, just like the ones I listed, and many others, were toys for you. Besides, as guest said, you'd use them too if they existed in your time.
