No but you don't need to. She interacts with her fans and does some free public performances and I have never seen anything to suggest that she isn't nice, unlike kanye.
I like her music, but some people I know who play the violin say she doesn't really respect the rules how to play a violin whatsoever, which kinda makes me lose respect for her. I'm no expert so I can't tell, but if what they say is true, then I think there are people who deserve more recognition as to what concerns playing the violin. Popular doesn't always mean doing what you do correctly, but I have to admit I think Lindsey's very creative, combining classical music with the modern styles so well.
But then again, I really dig her music, so I probably shouldn't care about this as long as I enjoy it. Besides, maybe the people I talked to were just jealous.
also remember that many rules were made to keep tradition on how to play it. Someone that can disregard the rules and make something good out of it can be considered creative, some of the best musicians broke the "rules" of music of their time, then were later considered amazing.
Good point. This also applies to literature, painting, sculpting etc. For example the Poètes maudits (accursed poets) were considered weird and disguisting at their time.
I never heard of her before this post, but the arguments about her intrigued me so I watched a few bids on youtube. Wow. The woman is talented. To say she does "not follow the rules" is absurd. Does Elton John follow the rules of piano? The Beatles of guitar? Elvis of stage performance? Her stage presence is a style all her own, reminiscent of Kiss, Alice Cooper, Madonna, Marilyn Manson and other entertainment greats. I used to scoff at the expression, "music is art" but I have seen things I never thought I would, have enjoyed things that I never believed could exist, every musician that plays their own music and gives their own performances is an artist. Appreciating this art is subjective, you can argue till the cows come home weather Metallica or DMX is the better artist and to half or more of the people you will always be wrong. Some of us appreciate her art form and some never will.
Oi, if you're referring to my comment, I'm just interpreting what my friends said about her and giving you the other point of view. I don't share it, I think she's awesome.
Although I do agree with the Metallica thing. Metallica is love, Metallica is life.
Am I the only one around here who doesn't like her music at all? It's simple, boring and annoying. And due to her weird moves while playing she looks like a skydancer. That's not how a musician who loves his instrument expresses himself, that's just embarrassing.
I don't decide, I gave my opinion about her as a show-off. The fun thing is that if you play an instrument yourself for years it's obvious that she doesn't even have remarkable skills. All you need is good marketing.
Just my 2 cents. Have a nice weekend!
