Same thing with Hades. In stories they always make him the bad guy, but, can you blame him for being bitter? His brother Zeus was like "ok so I overthrew our dad and saved your asses, so, I'm gonna be the top God, and rule over the sky, you Posideon will get the ocean and Hades....eh...you get the underworld." And hades just stays there, underground, surrounded by dead people, alone....
Hades never rapes Persephone, he kidnaps her. eventually they get married (although he kind of tricked her into that) anyways its kind of a long story so I'm not going to tell it, but you should look it up, nowhere does it say that he rapes her (at least not that was mentioned in my Greek mythology course which is where i got my information)
Many people believe he did because of the statue that was called "The Rape of Persephone."
He's actually very sweet and has a major soft spot for people in love (see: Orpheus and Psyche)
That's true, but I like to believe that he was actually in love with her and that's why he insisted on using any means necessary including trickery to keep her in the underworld with him even if it was only for a few months each year.
Many tell of Persrphone actually coming up with the plan. My Greek friend says her mother always spoke of her learning to love Hades, and eating the seeds to prove her devotion and ensure that they would never be permanently seperated.
What about reapers in Supernatural? I've only just finished season one, but the one at the beginning of season two was pretty nice, just trying to keep Dean from becoming an angry spirit.
Interesting
